Claude Code as a system for your business
By +Melo Agency ·

Claude Code is an Anthropic tool that reads your files, edits them, runs commands and connects with other tools. Its value for a business shows up when you stop using it as a loose chat and build it as a system: written rules, repeatable processes and someone who reviews. Here is how to do it and an example of how we apply it at +Melo.
What is Claude Code and who is it for?
It is a tool that understands a whole project and works across several files and tools at once. You ask for what you want in plain words, and it is available in the terminal, code editors, the desktop app and the browser. According to the documentation, most surfaces require a Claude subscription or an Anthropic Console account.
It suits anyone with repetitive work and clear rules: documents with a fixed format, website maintenance, data analysis or periodic tasks.

How does it become a system and not a loose chat?
The difference lies in these pieces, all described in the official documentation.

| Piece | What it is | What it is for in a business |
|---|---|---|
| Instructions file (CLAUDE.md) | A document Claude reads at the start of each session | Keeping the rules, tone, formats and organization written down |
| Skills | A folder with a SKILL.md file describing a repeatable workflow; invoked with /name or used by Claude when it fits | Processes you repeat: documents, summaries, reviews |
| Connections (MCP) | An open standard for connecting Claude with other tools | Reading and writing in the apps you already use |
| Hooks | Commands that run before or after an action and can block it | Rules that admit no exceptions |
| Scheduled tasks | Claude works on a schedule, in the cloud or on your machine | Periodic work without asking every time |
How do you start without overcomplicating it?
This logic matches the documentation's best practices: tell Claude what it cannot see, give it a check to run and enforce with controls what admits no exceptions.
- Choose a process you repeat and that is easy to review, not the most critical one in your business.
- Write in the instructions what Claude cannot see on its own: your rules, your tone and your formats.
- Give it a way to check the result, such as a review checklist, so you know it came out right.
- When you repeat the same process several times, turn it into a skill.
What should you watch out for when integrating it into a business?
- Sensitive client and business data: define where it is stored and what the tool can read.
- Rules that cannot fail do not go only in the instructions: the documentation says to use a hook to block them.
- A person reviews what goes out: documents, messages and posts.
- Figures are checked against their source; the tool also makes mistakes.
How do we apply it at +Melo? An example
We built a skill that starts from the standard quote template and the client's data, and leaves the document ready in the agency's format. We review and send it. The value is not that the tool decides the price or the proposal, which people define, but that the repetitive steps and the format are solved the same way every time.
Strategy, brand vision and creativity remain our team's: the tool takes repetitive work off us so we can spend that time on what truly requires judgment.

Frequently asked questions
What is Claude Code?
It is an Anthropic tool that reads a project, edits files, runs commands and connects with other tools. It works in the terminal, code editors, the desktop app and the browser.
Do I need to know how to code to use it?
Not necessarily: you ask in plain words. You do need clarity about what you want and the judgment to review the result.
Is it safe to use with client data?
It depends on how you set it up. Define what data it can read, keep it outside the project text and check the tool's privacy policy before using client data.
How much does it cost?
According to the documentation, most surfaces require a Claude subscription or an Anthropic Console account. Check current pricing on Anthropic's site.
Does it replace an agency or a team?
No. It saves repetitive work, but strategy, creativity and decisions remain with people.
